Work Adjustment
This service provides training in the meaning, value, and demands of work and in the development of positive attitudes toward work. This is a time-limited service, using real work, to assist Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) clients in attaining the necessary skills for competitive employment in an integrated setting.
NOTE: This is NOT job development/placement, but rather a training phase to determine if the individual is ready and able to obtain and maintain competitive employment.
This service may also be used to identify the need for further training, adjustment, and supports necessary for a VR individual to achieve and maintain competitive employment.
This service is typically for RSA/VR individuals who have never worked before, have had sporadic work histories, have not worked in a long time, or have behavioral/attitudinal issues that need to be addressed in order to obtain and maintain community employment.
Those individuals satisfactorily completing this time-limited service, or showing good progress, may be recommended to enter into job development & placement program and seek competitive employment. And, of course, job development & placement services can be obtained at WEDCO.
Those individuals not satisfactorily completing this service, or not making good progress, may benefit from the Work Internship/Exploration training service (also offered at WEDCO), or get additional assistance from their Vocational Counselor in working through the identified issues or barriers.
